Overview:
A respected employee-owned engineering and automation firm with 30+ years of experience is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join their team in Concord, CA . This role supports major industrial clients—primarily refineries—by designing, implementing, and commissioning advanced control systems. The position combines technical leadership with client-facing project responsibilities and offers substantial growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the design, development, and commissioning of DCS and PLC-based control systems
Work closely with clients and internal teams to meet project goals and deadlines
Conduct site walkdowns and gather field requirements
Create logic diagrams, control narratives, cause & effect matrices, and other documentation
Execute factory acceptance testing (FAT), field commissioning, and troubleshooting
Assist project managers with scheduling, reporting, and client communication
Support control system integration across sensors, actuators, and third-party hardware
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
What You Bring:
5+ years of experience in control systems engineering
Strong hands-on experience with Honeywell DCS (Experion PKS, TDC 3000); Allen-Bradley PLC experience is a plus
BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (advanced certification a plus)
Proficiency in ladder logic , Function Block Diagrams , and Structured Text
Knowledge of Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP protocols
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Familiarity with Triconex or Honeywell Safety Manager is a plus
Work Conditions:
Local travel to refineries and plant sites required
Must be comfortable walking and standing in operational units while wearing PPE
